Sarah Godwin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who grew up in rural Pike County, Indiana but has been an Evansville resident since 2005. Sarah attended the University of Southern Indiana, graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree in 2007, and obtained a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in 2012. Sarah has experience working in various community agencies throughout her career, and has worked as a clinical social worker in a hospital emergency department for the past 4 years.
Sarah enjoys working with teens and adults experiencing a variety of challenges, including grief/bereavement, adjustment disorders, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, behavioral addictions, eating disorders, self-injurious behaviors (such as cutting) and chronic suicidal thoughts. Sarah is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Motivational Interviewing, and is currently in training to become a Certified Grief Counselor. Sarah is especially passionate about working with parents who have experienced child loss, due to her own experience of losing her 11-year-old daughter in 2015. Sarah believes and understands that every individual’s grief journey is unique and there is no timeline for how it unfolds.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, teenaged son and younger stepson. She can usually be found pursuing one of her (too) many creative hobbies, such as painting, drawing, woodworking, crafting, gardening, or whatever else she decides to take on that week.
Sarah is available and happy to discuss what issues might be affecting you or your loved one to see how she might help.
